Warsaw Board of Public Works and Safety Friday approved Warsaw and Noisy S.O.D. Inc./Paradise Artists Ltd. entering into a $15,000 contract for Foghat to perform.
The concert is June 17 at 8 p.m.
Band members are Roger Earl, Bryan Bassett, Charlie Huhn and Craig MacGregor.
The band is know for its songs "Slow Ride", "Fool For The City" and "I Just Want To Make Love To You".
Foghat was scheduled to perform during last summer's classic rock concert in Warsaw, but the concert was cancelled due to inclement weather.
The board also approved event contracts for Warsaw Parks Department.
Contracts approved were with the parks department and Our Father's House for catering services for Daddy's Little Sweetheart Dance. The dance is Feb. 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Center Lake Pavilion.
A contract was approved between the parks department and Derek Tenney for disc jockey services and lighting for the Daddy's Little Sweetheart Dance.
A contract was approved between the parks department and Our Father's House for catering services for Girl's Night Out, which is June 29 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Center Lake Pavilion.
A contract between the parks department and Our Father's House was approved for Brunch With The Bunny on April 16 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Center Lake Pavilion.
The board also reviewed a proposal for uniforms for parks department employees.
Jon Garber, Warsaw parks superintendent, said he requested in December that Cintas and Wildman submit proposals for a two-year agreement quoting clothing items and supplies.
Garber said on some items that were quoted by both companies, Cintas came in lower, but Wildman did not provide quotes on some of the items.
Garber said the parks department has been satisfied with the service provided by Cintas in the past and recommended the department stay with Cintas.
Josh Wildman, Wildman Uniform, approached the board and suggested the city select Wildman Uniform for its uniforms instead of Cintas.
Wildman said if the city selected Wildman it would be shopping locally and save money.
He said it would be in the city's best interest to look at an ordinance that encourages looking locally for purchases.
"Being a local family-owned business in the down economy, it is a good push to have local companies provide services," Wildman said. "I'm glad to hear Cintas has done a good job for the parks department, but they recently moved out of town in the last few years, but Wildman is still here."
Warsaw Mayor Ernie Wiggins said the city tries to shop locally.
"But when prices are higher than the competition, that puts us in a box," Wiggins said.
Council President Joe Thallemer said he owns a business in town, and is sensitive to Wildman's concerns. He said he agrees the city should shop locally first, but the city gets in a box if they can't get the lowest price.
"If your full cost is not represented here, I fully support seeing both companies' original unit costs and then costs at the end of the year," Thallemer said. "I have no problem with digging deeper if your contention is that Wildman will save us money."
The board voted to table the request for the parks department to stay with Cintas for a two-year uniform agreement. That will allow the city to get invoice statements on cost comparisons for 2010 for uniforms from Cintas and Wildman Uniform.
Wiggins said, to be fair, a Cintas representative should be present at the next board of works meeting.
In other business, the board approved a 2011 employment agreement with Larry Clifford to continue to serve as a hearing officer for Warsaw Code Enforcement.
The board also approved Rob Barker to be promoted to Warsaw Fire Dept. captain at a $1,874.65 bi-weekly salary. Barker stepped down from a supervisory position at WFD last year due to personal reasons.
The board also approved the city hiring a replacement sewage payment clerk.
The city is in the process of conducting background checks for the position, but has not hired anyone at this point, according to Jennifer Whitaker, Warsaw human resources director.
