He was born Aug. 29, 1924, north of Warsaw, to Milo and Luella Lytle Robbins. On Jan. 4, 1947, at First Brethren Church, Warsaw, he married Mary Louise Vanator, who survives.
He served as a signalman in the U.S. Navy from 1942-46, in the Pacific and was awarded the Purple Heart for wound received at the Battle for Kwajalein Island in 1944. He retired from the Warsaw Water Works after 35 years in 1988. he and his wife made their home at Travelers Rest, Dade City, Fla., for the last 20 years. He was a First Responder and assistant fire chief there. He was a member of the Methodist Church, San Antonio, Fla. He was a member of the North Winona Church of the Brethren, Warsaw. he was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and Warsaw American Legion Post 49.
Also surviving are a daughter, Susan (and spouse Dewayne) Creamer, Warsaw; a son, Tom (and spouse Barbie) Robbins, Dade City; two brothers, Harry (and spouse Lois) Robbins and Eugene (and spouse Mary Louise) Robbins, all of Sarasota, Fla.; two granddaughters, Melissa Rupe and Tina Alcala, both of Warsaw; four grandsons, Jeff (and spouse Jennifer) Rupe, Bremen, and Keith, Jason and Brett (and spouse Jessica) Robbins, all of Warsaw; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, David Robbins.
A memorial service will be in San Antonio, Fla. There will be a graveside service at the Legion Circle at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, at a later date.[[In-content Ad]]
