He was born on Dec. 6, 1930, in Argos to Manford E. and Ethel Widmeyer Wood.
He was a lifetime resident of Warsaw and Pierceton. He worked in maintenance for ABC Industries, Warsaw, retiring in 1992, and was formerly a truck driver for Korth Furniture Inc., Warsaw. He was of the Baptist faith. He was an avid coon hunter, enjoyed visiting with family and friends, having coffee with the boys and was a die-hard I.U. basketball fan.
He is survived by his daughter, Melinda (and spouse Steve) Zorn; son, Michael (and spouse Karen) Wood; grandson, Joseph (and spouse Nikkie) Wood; two great grandsons, Reilley and Brady Wood, and his companion, Sylvia Deeter, all of Warsaw.
He was the last surviving sibling in a family of 16.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Warsaw Community Church with Pastor Jeff Pfeifer officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton.
There are no visitation hours planned.
