She was born April 22, 1920, in Osceola, to Clarence E. and Ella Arvilla Long Richards. On May 21, 1938, in South Bend, she married Max R. Baker.
She worked 50 years as a beautician for Dottie’s Beauty Shop, retiring in 2007.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Warsaw, and the church’s evening circle, member of the Warsaw Women’s Bowling Association for 55 years and was inducted into the Bowling Hall of Fame (1992-1993), member of Lambda Chi Omega Sorority and in 2000 was awarded the Warsaw Heart of Gold Award. A woman who was happiest doing something for others, she was a volunteer for Warsaw Biblical Gardens and was crowned Kosciusko County Senior Queen in 2004.
Surviving are two daughters, Sue (and spouse Ben) Bradway, Warsaw, and Sally (and spouse Karl) Shriver, Monticello; four grandchildren: Brad Drudge, Ammie Devenney, Jason Shriver and Jennifer Shriver; and five great-grandchildren: Justin, Jeremy, Olivia, Owen and Jace. She was preceded in death by her husband, Max R. Baker, who passed away Jan. 15, 1990; three sisters: Eva Williams, Vera Martens and Pauline Richards; four brothers: Thomas, Donald, Ernest and Raymond.
A Lambda Chi Omega service will take place at 7:30 p.m. and at 10 a.m. Thursday in Titus Funeral Home, with Pastor Bill Wood, Packerton United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw,
Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
