Fisher Seeks To Postpone Murder Trial; Charged In Death Of Milford Woman

Defense attorney Mike Miner on Wednesday filed a motion in Kosciusko Circuit Court to postpone the trial of Jason Fisher.
Fisher, 22, of Millersburg, was scheduled to go on trial accused of the murder of Kathy Vroman, 48, of Milford. The seven-day trial was to begin Sept. 13, with the first two days for jury selection only and five days set aside for testimony. Miner is Fisher's court-appointed attorney. The trial is tentatively rescheduled for early December, according to Kosciusko County Prosecutor Charles Waggoner.
Vroman was reported by her husband as missing on Jan. 15. Her body was later found in Michigan and an autopsy revealed she died from two gunshot wounds to her head. Police believe Vroman was shot inside Fisher's business, Country Car Co. at Milford, and her body was taken to the location near Three Rivers, Mich.,
Evidence in the case suggests that Vroman's death was related to an auto theft ring in which Fisher; his father, Ralph Freddrick Fisher, 46, of Goshen; Vroman's husband, William Weston Vroman, 32, formerly of Milford; Lawrence Grant, 29, of Shipshewana; and George Aldrich, 28, of 9492-A Ind. 19N, Etna Green, were allegedly involved.
Since their arrests in January, Vroman, Grant and Aldrich have pleaded guilty to the charges against them in connection with a December theft of vehicles from Rice Ford in Warsaw. Vroman and Grant already have been sentenced in their cases and Aldrich is scheduled for sentencing later this month.
Miner said this morning that the continuance is needed to get the information for the defense case organized. Because of the number of people involved in the case, Miner said, the case is more complicated than just the representation of Jason Fisher. [[In-content Ad]]
