Fire Safety at SWES

The Cleveland Township Fire Department sponsored a series of fire safety classes targeted for each grade level at South Whitley Elementary School Wednesday.

Captain Dave Meadows, fire safety educator for the Fort Wayne Fire Department, was the guest presenter. Students learned fire safety tips and viewed each of the different articles of a firefighter’s gear as Meadows and CTFD firefighter Terry Ulshafer explained the function of each piece. Meadows gave students permission to bug their parents about the necessity of having functioning smoke alarms in each room and hallway of a house and having an escape plan.[[In-content Ad]]
