'Fire & Ice' To Feature 59 Ice Sculptures

There will be 59 ice sculptures in downtown Warsaw for First Friday Fire & Ice Friday.
The festival is sponsored by Key Bank of Warsaw and is from 5 to 9 p.m.
The First Friday committee is at its limit for ice sculpture sponsors, and is not accepting any more sponsors.
The ice sculptures will be on Center, Main and Buffalo streets.
Carving will begin late in the morning Friday to early afternoon and continue into the evening. Attendees are encouraged to come to the downtown area to shop, eat and watch Michiana Ice Carvers Association carve the sculptures.
Highlighting the event will be an ice sculpture of an ML Motorsports race car with fire coming out of the exhaust.
Another highlight is an ice sculpture in honor of Bailey Moore, who died in March after an 8-1/2-month battle with leukemia.
There will be shirts and wrist bands for sale with all proceeds going to the Bailey Moore Scholarship Fund.
There will be a range of sculptures that include the Eiffel Tower, penguins, bears, tigers and many other carver’s choice sculptures. There will be 10 sculptures with fire.
The First Christian Church Information Center will have maps available to see the location of all ice sculptures. Also, they will offer hot chocolate and cookies.
Bobcat of Warsaw will move the ice blocks, the City of Warsaw will turn on lights for the event, Collier’s Heating and Cooling will offer gas tanks for the ice sculptures, Warsaw Masonry will provide cement blocks, and Lisa Robinson organized the locations of the sculptures.
The First Friday committee has organized a show called “Pyrotation Nation.” This is a fire show that features dancing, twirling and spinning flames.
There are two performances at 6:30 and 8 p.m. The shows are at the center stage, which is located under the stoplight at the intersection of Center and Buffalo streets. The show lasts approximately 45 to 50 minutes.
There will be a “Red Key” contest where four red keys will be hidden in downtown businesses during the First Friday event. If people find a red key, they can take it to the Key Bank and they will reward the person with a $50 gift card.
Downtown merchants will have First Friday specials. The restaurants will have foods and drinks to compliment the First Friday event.
Brown Bag Deli will offer chicken and noodles and beef and noodles for supper, and B Mac’s On Buffalo will feature a fish fry.
Dennie House will have free tastings of Wind and Willow products by their representative, Marthene Burneau. They also will have free gourmet coffee, prizes and sales.
St. Regis Club is sponsoring a wine and cheese tasting at 8 p.m. The club is at 114 S. Buffalo St. There will be a small admission charge.
A spaghetti dinner will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., sponsored by Kosciusko County 4-H Club that will be in the lower level of the County Annex building, 202 W. Main St.[[In-content Ad]]They will serve plain and meat sauce spaghetti and garlic bread. Financial donations are $5 per plate for plain sauce and $6 per plate for meat sauce.
The 4-H Dairy Barn Rebuild group will have a bake sale and drinks as a fundraiser to rebuild the barn at the fairgrounds.
American Red Cross and First United Methodist Church will have hot drinks.
Fire pits will be positioned on the streets. The Presbyterian Church youth group will make smores as a fundraiser.
Mason’s Health Care will have marshmallows for roasting.
Homemade kettle corn will be available.
Mallory Moore will play live music at The Chocolate Shoppe.
Girl Scout Troop 10016 will sell Girl Scout cookies on Center Street near Mad Anthony’s.
Girl Scout Troop 10379 will sell Girl Scout cookies inside Courthouse Coffee.
