Fight Back

I would like to thank Ted Carter for holding the commissioners' feet to the fire on the county road (100E) that our commissioners are wanting to close.

Mr. Truex seemed upset that they are losing in the court of public opinion, and that "the discussion is three years ahead of its time." Mr. Conley said he was "really disappointed that fear factored into the discussion." I'm thinking that it goes a bit deeper than that. I think they are upset that the people who will be hurt the most by closing this road found out about it and have decided to fight back.

The last election let us know that elected officials work for us, our tax dollars pay for this service and they will do what is best for us, if not, we will vote others in that will.

Mr. Carter asks you in his letter to do something right for a change. I think that would be great. Rather than closing a road that is used by the people who live and work in that area using the road several times each day, do something about our county's unemployment which is 8.6 percent. Do something positive for the people who are hurting in our county and bring in new business, that is after all what is needed.

I urge all who can to be at the next commissioners meeting to go, let them know that they are not going to close 100E without a fight. For any that can't attend please stop by a local barber shop for the latest gossip, and Kangaroo court that is held almost everyday. There you will treat yourself to some very intelligent comments like, "Dogs don't have souls," and "dogs don't need to eat everyday."

In closing, a few hours there will lift the fog and you will see how things are in their opinion and we (the voting public) can't do much about it.

That is, until election time.
