SYRACUSE - Ferl A. "Dusty" Rhoads, 87, of Syracuse, died at 5:30 p.m. June 6, 2009, in Goshen General Hospital.

He was born Feb. 16, 1922, in Elton, Pa., to Charles Herbert and Laura Gramling Rhoads. On April 7, 1946, he married Bertha McClellan, who died in 2003.

A Syracuse resident for 65 years, he retired from Dana Corp., Syracuse. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Syracuse, for 55 years and was a past Boy Scout master. He was a WWII Army veteran.

Surviving are four children: Gwen (and spouse Ernie) Leitch, Poland; Laura (and spouse Rick) Chupp, Indianapolis; Chuck Rhoads, Morgantown, Pa.; Kevin (and spouse Kelli) Rhoads, Syracuse; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Clema Wingard, Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Calvary United Methodist Church, with Pastors David Herr and Ken Robinson officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Syracuse Cemetery.

Calling is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home Harris Chapel, Syracuse.
