Fellowship Missions will hold a community meeting Thursday to plan for a temporary homeless shelter in Warsaw.

The meeting will be from 6 to 8 p.m. at Center Lake Pavilion.

A temporary homeless shelter is set to open Oct. 1, but a location for the shelter has not yet been determined.

Eric Lane, Fellowship Missions director, said the purpose of the meeting is to seek volunteers for the shelter and discuss plans for the shelter.

Fellowship Missions is a non-profit organization that has a home in Warsaw that houses men who are homeless.

The organization also offers a free meal to those in need the second and fourth Wednesday of the month from 5 to 7 p.m. at Center Lake Pavilion.

Fellowship Missions also is planning several fundraising events.

They will have a cornhole tournament Sept. 3 downtown Warsaw. The tournament will begin at 6 p.m. in front of Reinholt's Furniture.

The cost to enter a team is $20. People can register at fellowshipmissions.net for the tournament.

Half of the proceeds from the cornhole tournament will go to Fellowship Missions, and the other half will be for prizes for the tournament-winning team.

Fellowship Missions also is selling $5 cards for Smokin' Charlie's BBQ that will allow people to get a pulled pork sandwich and chips on Sept. 3 during First Friday.

A Fellowship Missions Golf Outing will be Sept. 13 at Rozella Ford Golf Course.

Lunch will be from noon to 1 p.m. with a 1 p.m. shotgun start.

Fellowship Missions will have a Tent City for the homeless on the Kosciusko County Courthouse lawn.

Grace College students and the community will camp out on the courthouse lawn to raise awareness about homelessness. The event will be Sept. 24 at 6 p.m. until Sept. 25 at 8 a.m.
