Fellowship Mission Kicks Off Campaign

July 28, 2016 at 4:25 p.m.

By Staff Report-

Fellowship Missions raised $97,701 Thursday night at a dinner held in the new shelter building, 1520 E. Winona Ave., Warsaw, that is expected to open in early 2014.
Guests toured the recently acquired property and donated funds for building renovation that will be used for a homeless shelter to house men, women and children.
The event began at 6 p.m. and included an open house, silent auction and dinner catered by Cerulean. The program began with a video of testimonies of those who have been personally impacted by Fellowship Missions Homeless Shelters.
Nadine Gibbs, a past resident and current house monitor, followed with a short testimony of her experience within the shelters and where she is now.
Jose Alvarez, retired Major League Baseball player, delivered a keynote speech on the theme of “Courage” and “Hope.”
Eric Lane, Fellowship Missions executive director,  then led guests through the blueprint design of the new shelter building and all that will be possible with the women and men under one roof, including greater capacity, children’s room and large community room.
The night concluded when emcee Rich Haddad gave guests an opportunity to financially support the building renovation or Adopt-A-Room of the new shelter building.
Dessert was served as baskets were passed and donations collected. The final tally, including personal donations, silent auction and two room sponsors, was $97,701.
This total will be matched by K21 Health Foundation’s matching grant, bringing the final donation total of the evening to $195,402.
“Last night was incredible. It had God’s fingerprints all over it from start to finish. It’s been amazing to see how our community has partnered with Fellowship Missions over the past 3-1/2 years to help restore lives and give hope to those who are homeless in our community,” Lane said.
Still to raise is the final $154,598, including another 16 rooms as well as the exterior of the building to adopt.
