She was born March 5, 1943, in Franklin, to Buford and Sarah Beatty VanCleave, who preceded her in death. On Jan. 6, 1967, she married John T. “Butterball” or “Butter” Jones Jr., who died Nov. 8, 2005.
She lived in Syracuse since 1984. She formerly worked at Stokley Van-Camp, Indianapolis; Rushville National Bank; the GE Plant, Shelbyville; Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indianapolis; and retired from Zimmer, Warsaw. She graduated from Franklin High School in 1961 and attended Indiana Business College.
Surviving are a son, John T. III (and spouse Jeanne Marie) Jones, Milford; a daughter, Amber Jones-Chambers, Indianapolis; two brothers, William Carl (and spouse Marlene) VanCleave and Lindsley “Lenny” VanCleave, all of Franklin; a sister, Beatrice (and spouse James) Davis, Rushville; and three grandchildren: Todd James (and spouse Shaundra) Jones and Leilani and Imani. She also was preceded in death by a sister, Delores K. “Lorsie” Moore; two brothers, Buford “Junie” VanCleave Jr. and Lester VanCleave; and a son-in-law Curtis Chambers.
Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Moster Mortuary, Rushville, with the Revs. Irvin French and David Chambers and Pastor Humphery Fahie officiating. Burial will be in East Hill Cemetery.
