AKRON - Faye E. Smith, 92, formerly of the Beaver Dam community, died at 7:20 a.m. Nov. 12, 2010, at Miller's Merry Manor, Warsaw, where she resided.

She was born Oct. 18, 1918, in Kosciusko County, to Ivan and Amanda Rupley Warren. On Feb. 24, 1940, in Dutchtown, she married Harvey L. "Funny" Smith, who died Nov. 3, 1992.

She worked at the former Chamberlain Products, Akron, and was a homemaker. She graduated from Burket High School. She was a member of Beaver Dam United Methodist Church, Ladies' Aid and the Home Economics Club.

Surviving are a daughter, Betty (and spouse Terry) Foust, Akron; a grandson, Bret Slaybaugh, Warsaw; a stepgranddaughter, Kim (and spouse Bob) Whitney, Fort Wayne; a great-granddaughter, Toni Shambaugh, Akron; three step-great-granddaughters: Brooke Whitney, Fort Wayne, Kaitlin and Stephanie Armstrong, Merrillville; a step-great-grandson, Danny Armstrong, Merrillville; and two great-great-grandsons, Galvin and Thad Shambaugh, Akron. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Vera Hamilton, twin sister Fern Swick, Leatha Nees and Doris Phillips; three brothers, Carl, Dale and Donald Warren; and a stepgranddaughter, Lori Armstrong.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with Pastor Butch Troke officiating. Burial will be in Nichols Cemetery, Akron.

Calling is from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
