Fatal Accident

Warsaw police officers Clay Layne (L) and Mike Cox investigate one of the vehicles involved in Friday night's fatal accident on U.S. 30E, east of Commerce Drive, Warsaw. Pedro Padilla, 29, of Clinic Court, Warsaw, was pronounced dead at Warsaw Community Hospital of injuries he suffered after pulling into the path of a car driven by Melissa McDonald, 17, of Claypool. Two passengers in Padilla's car - his wife, Susan, 31, and Noe Vedia, 29, Warsaw - were listed in serious condition at KCH. McDonald suffered minor injuries and was treated at KCH and released. The accident occurred at 9:08 p.m. Friday, and eastbound lanes on U.S. 30 were blocked for approximately 30 minutes. Tests are pending for the presence of drugs and alcohol, and the accident remains under investigation.
