Fairlane Sewer Project Under Way

Construction workers recently broke ground on a new sewer project along Fairlane Drive, supervised by Warsaw's wastewater treatment department.

For the next two months workers will replace sanitary sewer lines in the area, as well as repair force mains and add new back-up pumps for the sewer system.

"Over the years there has been settling on the ground because (this neighborhood) is so close to the lake, and it's not all settling uniformly," Wastewater Treatment Utility Department Head Dave Henderson said. "We get in there and clean it up."

The $116,375 project is being completed by Everest Excavating LLC of Warsaw.

Until completion, Henderson said there will be restricted one-lane traffic in the area, which is close to Lakeview Middle School.

"When it comes to traffic, we'll try and keep it moving during the day, and we'll open (the roads) back up at night to the best of our ability.

"We have little room to work with because of the limited space on the roads, but we're confident we can get people through."

Contractors hope to have the project completed as soon as possible, but because workers will be dealing directly with the sewer lines, Henderson said the completion date will be dependent on the weather.

"I think we'll end up with something good for the surrounding homeowners," Henderson said. "And everything sewer related will be taken care of for the next few years." [[In-content Ad]]
