Fair And Balanced

As a recent contributor to this newspaper stated "Fox news was in bed with the GOP," therefore they obviously were biased in favor of the Republicans and not fair and balanced.
I find this interesting because this person doesn't mention any other news sources nor how they weigh-in on the issues on are personally, feel that Fox is almost an island onto itself in that the vast majority of the rest of the media sources (both radio and TV) seem to be highly anti-GOP and Demo friendly. Hence, the search for "Fair and balanced reporting," which by the way should be the mission statement of every media source, is coming up empty these days!
Let's go back to the recent past, the Bush/Cheney years (8) in which a day did not pass when we did not receive our reports on gas prices, oil company profits, non-progress in Afghanistan and Iraq (and what the heck are we in Iraq for anyway.) and among other subjects, the economy and what is being done or not being done. That regime seemed to be held responsible for everything that was not going well including relief from natural disasters even if it was proven that state and local governments were doing next to nothing while waiting for the federal dollars and National Guard and FEMA to come to the rescue.
Now, let us fast-forward to today's media performance. Feb.1st a Ft. Wayne news source reports "Oil prices and profits keep climbing" and I fail to hear the outcries of horror. Our troops unfortunately have not found Osama Bin Laden and as of last report are not leaving Afghanistan. No outrage yet? Plan in place to leave Iraq to their own governing. Majority support from the media.
I have yet to hear President Obama announce the creation of new jobs or reclamations of jobs that have gone north, south, east and west (which happened during many of our congressional watches, under Dem or GOP majority over more years than anyone would like to report) and the majority of the media pick up and report that we lost less jobs this month compared to a year ago. Fair and Balanced?
Consider this, had the Obama/Dem stimulus economic package occurred during the Bush/Cheney regime with the bank bonuses and trip rewards for jobs well done within the banking culture and not even a trickle dropped down in the form of loan help for Joe Everyman, I fear that the majority of the media would self-combust with over-the-top bombastic outrage at the very least!
Good Luck with your search for fair and balanced reporting of the facts when you can find them, but try to widen your scope so as to include more than Fox News.
Happy Hunting,
