NORTH MANCHESTER – F. Eugene “Gene” Fisher, 96, North Manchester and formerly of Warsaw, died at 7:10 a.m. June 9, 2014, in Timbercrest Healthcare Center, North Manchester.
He was born Sept. 4, 1917, in Logansport, to William H. and Grace Hunter Fisher. On May 27, 1938, he married June Dahms, who survives.
He graduated Warsaw High School in 1935. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post 49 and Masonic Lodge #73, both of Warsaw, for more than 50 years. He was a member of North Winona Church of the Brethren, Warsaw.
He worked for NIPSCO for 32 years, retiring in 1977.
Also surviving are a nephew, Stephen (and spouse Linda) Leedy, Terre Haute; a niece, Barbara Wampler, Warsaw; two grandchildren, Eddie Leas, Marion, and Matthew Leas, Florida; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Sue Leas, who died in 1991; and two sisters, Thelma Leedy and Doris Nellans.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, with Chaplain Don Fecher officiating.
No calling is planned.
