During the Purdue Extension annual meeting Monday, several ‘lifesavers’ were recognized for helping office staff with the county fair and other programs throughout the year. Mindy Wise, 4-H Youth Development Educator, named Michael Joy and Anthony Carra for spearheading the 4-H Robotics program; Kay Tusing for walking her through finance matters; and Mark Demske, president of the 4-H Council. Stephanie Faroh, health and human sciences educator, recognized Rita Irwin and the co-superintendents of the fair open class, Julia Frush and June Thomas. Sue Hickman, nutrition education program assistant, said she wanted to honor all extension homemakers for providing food and financial assistance to people in their homes. And Extension Director Kelly Heckaman recognized all Master Gardener program participants as well as Jessie Dempske, Junior 4-H leader; Cathy Smith, general projects; and Jen Cook, who lent a hand with the county fair-related workload on July 4. Also during the meeting, Irwin and Tyler Boganwright were voted as new Extension Board members, to replace retiring members Debbie Coleman and Elaine Wakefield.
