BOURBON - Eugene M. Secrist, 87, of Bourbon, passed away unexpectedly at 9:37 p.m. Feb. 28, 2010, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center of Plymouth.

He was born Sept. 10, 1922, in Bourbon, to Milo and Pearl Edith Miller Secrist. On July 17, 1948, he married Arlo Conger, who survives.

Living in the Bourbon area most of his life, he was a 1940 graduate of Bourbon High School, and furthered his education in the business field at I.U.S.B. and the University of Alabama. He was a World War II U.S Army veteran, serving in the 850th Engineers, European Theatre. He retired in 1986, as the assistant administrator and financial controller of Parkview Hospital (St. Joseph Regional Medical Center) of Plymouth. He was a past member of the Rotary Club of Plymouth and a Paul Harris Fellow.

Also surviving are four children: Lynn (and spouse Michael) Gross, Warsaw; Karen (and spouse Rick) Moriarty, Atwood; Debbie Tucker, Evansville; and Jeffrey (and spouse Sherri) Secrist, Rochester; nine grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Bourbon First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark A. Day officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.

Calling is from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, at 115 S. Main St., Bourbon, and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church.
