ROCHESTER - Eugene Foley, 93, of 417 W. 9th St., Rochester, died at 1:45 a.m. Jan. 19, 2011, in Life Care Center of Rochester.

He was born Sept. 10, 1917, in Carroll County, to Walter O. and Nellie Ferguson Foley. On Sept. 9, 1942, in Rochester, he married Mary Jane DePoy, who survives.

He was World War II U.S. Army Air Force veteran. He was co-owner of Foley's Jewelers, Rochester. A bench jeweler, he and his wife operated the jewelry store for more than 49-1/2 years, retiring in August 2006. He was a member of Fulton Masonic Lodge, where he was a 32 degree mason; Northern Indiana Watchmakers' Guild, where he served as president; Trinity United Methodist Church; the Isaac Walton Trap Shooting League and other gun clubs; and was a member of the National Rifle Association. He served on the Rochester City Council and was a grand marshal, along with his wife, at the downtown Rochester Christmas parade.

Also surviving are a daughter, Diana Jane Welker, Warsaw; two grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Clara Lou Childress, Warsaw; and a brother, Dale Foley, Peru. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, with the Rev. Charles G. Azbell officiating. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Rochester.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to service Saturday at the funeral home.
