Eugene Earl Teeter, 79, owner of Gene’s Stump Grinding of Warsaw, passed away at 6 p.m. July 15, 2015, in his residence.
He was born June 1, 1936, in South Bend, to Harold Emmanuel and Myrtle Irene Vardaman Teeter. On July 24, 1965, he married Mary L. Bollart, who preceded him in death Dec. 19, 1984. On Sept. 27, 2003, he married Anna Lou Phillips Teeter, who survives in Warsaw.
He enlisted in the Indiana Army National Guard on July 22, 1959, serving for three years until his honorable discharge on July 21,1962.
He worked various jobs throughout his life. He sold tires at the New Paris Speedway in New Paris. He retired as the mechanic from Preston Trucking in South Bend. He plowed snow in Mishawaka.
He was a member of Dutchtown Brethren Church in Warsaw. He loved hunting, fishing and working with trees. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Also surviving are, three daughters: Tammy (and spouse Joe) Higginbotham, Buchanan, Mich.; Peggy (and spouse Matthew) Podemski, Warsaw; Tina (and spouse David) Sohlke, Mishawaka; a son, Robert Teeter, South Bend; three stepdaughters, Deborah (and spouse Mike) Hoover, Warsaw; Semone (and spouse Donald) Miller, Milford; Mary Kay McDonald, South Bend; six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, with Pastor Jack Worth officiating. Burial is at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
