Etna Green Fire Chief Wants 2 More Firefighters

ETNA GREEN - Etna Green Fire Dept. Chief Loren Melton presented the town council with a request to add two more positions to the fire department.

Currently, there are 20 positions and Melton wants to make it 22. The council tabled the final decision until they can look at several factors that may have an effect on the decision, including what the insurance policy says.[[In-content Ad]]The council discussed and approved a request made by Melton concerning making the property of the fire station a no-smoking area.

The council again discussed the town employee retirement plan. The council tabled the issue until all information has been looked over and the employees can come to an agreement on retirement plans.

The annual Easter Egg Hunt will be at 1 p.m. March 22. The event will be held at Heritage Park and will be open for children up to the age of 12.

Large trash pick-up days will be April 29 and May 6.
