Ethanol Meeting

July 28, 2016 at 4:25 p.m.

By Staff Report-

The Northern Lakes Concerned Citizens Association met at the Milford Community Center Thursday night. According to Bill Appenzeller, chairman of the organization, 'we are not anti-ethanol, we are not anti-farmer. We are just against the proposed site. We have a valid case against this ethanol plant just based on health issues. We're working as a community to have our voice heard. It's an uphill battle.' The group is concerned about the proximity of the plant to the town of Milford. Presentations were made on the amount of pollution put off by an ethanol plant, and a video was shown of a working plant in Aurora, S.D. The group has hired an attorney, Robert Eheren, Fort Wayne, who specializes in zoning issues. The group stated that all of the local attorneys who are zoning experts have been retained by VeraSun, the company that may propose the plant. If VeraSun does seek zoning variances for a plant in Milford, members of the group plan to attend the county zoning board meeting. [[In-content Ad]]
