Esther Louise Berkey, 85, of Warsaw, passed away at 12:10 a.m. Sept. 2, 2011, in Heritage Manor Minster, Ohio.
She was born Oct. 19, 1925, in Milford, to Perry and Bessie E. Price Matthews. On March 15, 1947, in Milford, she married John Berkey, who died April 7, 1997.
A lifetime Kosciusko County resident, she was a clerk at Kroger’s, Warsaw, for 25 years, retiring in 1984. She was a graduate of Milford High School and International Business College. She was a member of Warsaw Wesleyan Church, a charter member of Eight–Square Homemakers Club, Neighbor Gals, American Legion Auxiliary Post 49, Senior Citizens Club and Classic Lakeland Dance.
Surviving are a son, Jay M. (and spouse Debbie) Berkey, Minster; two granddaughters, Rebecca (and spouse Tim) Kuether, Fort Loramie, Ohio, and Jaianne (and spouse Todd) Unrast, Maria Stein, Ohio; a grandson, John D. Berkey, Fort Loramie; and great-grandchildren, Rylee, Colten and Wyatt Unrast, Adam and Grace Kuether and Gavin Berkey.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw, with Pastor Gale Janofski officiating. Burial will be in Milford Cemetery.
Calling is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
