SYRACUSE – Esmond Campbell, 86, formerly of Syracuse, passed away July 29, 2011, in Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester.

He was born Oct. 15, 1924, in Bridgeton, to Ona and Minnie Low Campbell. On Aug. 3, 1946, he married Patricia Herter, who survives.

He lived in South Bend most of his life, moving to the Syracuse area later in his life. He retired from Wheelabrator Corp., Mishawaka. He formerly worked at Studebaker, Drewrey’s Brewery and Travelcraft.

Also surviving are a son, Darrell (and spouse Rebecca) Campbell, Syracuse; two grandchildren, Abby (and spouse Brandon) Moe, North Webster, and Brett Campbell, Syracuse; and a brother, Merrit Campbell, Genesco, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and a brother.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Eastlund Funeral Home, 7458 E. CR 1000N, Syracuse, with Pastor John Modisett officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Roselawn Cemetery, Terre Haute.

Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
