Ernest E. Thompson, 86, passed away at 1:20 p.m. Jan. 12, 2013, in Tidewell Hospice-Bradenton House, Bradenton, Fla.
He was born Nov. 4, 1926, in Warsaw, to Stewart and Ethel Snyder Thompson. On June 24, 1950, he married Helen B. Dickerhoff, who died July 7, 1990. On July 4, 1992, in Las Vegas, Nev., he married Lucille Foreman, who died July 1, 2012.
He and Helen were co-owners of Kentucky Fried Chicken, Marshall, Iowa, from 1962-1965, and “The Keg”, Leesburg, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Elks and Moose lodges, both in Warsaw, and Monte Vista County Elks and Palmetto Moose Lodge, both in Florida.
Surviving are two stepsons, Richard Dickerhoff, Mentone, and Charles (and spouse Norma) Fawley, Warsaw; two stepdaughters, Virginia (and spouse Carl) Heisler, Claypool, and Twylla Tolley, Cincinnati, Ohio; nine step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Earl Thompson, Claypool, and Eddie Thompson, Indiana; a sister, Helen Jean Schooley, Elkhart; and a nephew, Ron Thompson. He also was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Raymond, Harley, LeRoy and Norman “Red” Thompson; three sisters: Mabel Phillips, Louise Miller and Marcella Cafer; two step-grandchildren; and a nephew, Ted Thompson.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, officiated by Pastor Jeff Pfeifer of Warsaw Community Church. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
