A tip from a concerned citizen led to the recovery of a substantial amount of drugs and the arrest of a Warsaw man.

Jesus C. Hernandez, 33, of 920 Anchorage Road, lot 81, Shamrock Trailer Park, Warsaw, was arrested Sept. 30 and booked into the Porter County Jail and charged with possession of a schedule II substance.

The tip received by the Kosciusko County Special Operations Team indicated several men at the Shamrock Trailer Park were dealing in drugs. The Kosciusko County Drug Task Force, along with the Warsaw Police Department, conducted an investigation based on the tip and recovered a substantial amount of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia at Hernandez's residence.

That led the drug investigators to Hernandez's workplace, where officers again recovered a substantial amount of methamphetamine and cocaine in conjunction with the Porter County Drug Unit.

According to the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, the tip was received through the "Enough" campaign. As a way of getting the public involved, the Kosciusko County Special Operations Team - the county's drug task force - provides a chance for tips to be delivered for investigations. Information can be submitted to the drug task force by telephone, fax or mail using a form that is periodically printed in the Times-Union.

The information can be given anonymously, but those who do reveal their identity to authorities will be kept confidential.

The drug task force first used this program in 1990 and renewed it in January 1999. With the "Enough" coupons, residents can turn in information about suspected drug dealing or use by simply jotting down the name of the suspect, the address where the activities are allegedly taking place and license plate information from cars frequenting the location.

Telephones at the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department are equipped with voice mail, so if someone calls with information when the drug officers are not in the office, the information can be left as a recorded message.

According to a KCSD spokesman, "Through the efforts of citizens of the community, Enough does work. The program is very effective."

Anyone with any further tips should contact the Kosciusko County Drug Task Force at 372-2494 or KCSD at 267-5667. [[In-content Ad]]

Once taking office I knew how important it was going to be to have the right leadership in every division of the office, and the jail was certainly no exception. Upon taking office, I appointed Lt.
