I am very concerned about the direction our nation is headed, but things are not hopeless. I truly believe that exercising my right to vote can, and will, make a difference this year. I have extensively studied the issues and am convinced that Dr. Thomas Hayhurst will work to direct this nation to the stable, constitution-loving, free nation that our founders designed.

These are a few of Dr. Hayhurst's positions that have convinced me he is the candidate for Congress to get my vote:

n Veterans must receive the best quality medical care and benefits in a prompt and respectful manner; (he helped start the grass-roots organization Veterans for Better Health Care to fight for continued care at our regional veteran's hospital).

n Dr. Hayhurst supports the Second Amendment which guarantees the right to possess arms, and he personally exercises this right;

n Energy independence is an issue critical to both national and economic security;

n Dr. Hayhurst will work to make Indiana a leader in renewable energy jobs. Manufacturing facilities that are now silent can be revamped to make solar panels and wind turbines and to process bio-fuels. And our fields can be used to grow the bio-fuels, a benefit for both job growth and national security.

Dr. Hayhurst is a medical doctor who has repeatedly dedicated his skills to the greater needs of his community. He helped establish free medical care clinics in Fort Wayne and Wolf Lake and continues to work weekly at a tuberculosis clinic. He has served as an elected member of the Fort Wayne City Council for 12 years. His dedication to the public good is not simply philosophical; it occupies his hands and heart, as well as, his mind.
