Elaine Christine Brenneman, 88, of Grace Village Retirement Community, 337 Grace Village Drive, Winona Lake, went home to be with her Lord and Savior at 1:05 a.m. Jan. 27, 2013, surrounded by family at her daughter’s residence in Lewis Center, Ohio.
She was born March 28, 1924, in Los Angeles, Calif., to Leo and Leila Neher Polman. On Oct. 3, 1952, she married Maxwell Brenneman, who passed away May 2, 1987.
She was a pastor’s wife and a homemaker, and a member of Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church. She had been a resident of Winona Lake since 1978, moving here from Puerto Rico where she spent 19 years as a missionary and a lifetime in Christian ministry.
She will be lovingly remembered by two daughters, Nancy Joyce (and spouse Don) Makeever, Bradenton, Fla., and Ruth Elaine (and spouse Walter) Poupart, Lewis Court, Ohio; two grandsons, Joshua (and spouse Tirsa) Poupart and Joel (and spouse Jennifer) Poupart; a granddaughter, Angela Christine Poupart; three great-grandchildren, Leo, Sammy and Caleb Poupart; and a sister, Joyce (and spouse D. Robert “Bob”) Griffith, Winona Lake. She was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Polman; and a great-grandson, Noah Poupart.
Services will be at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, with Chaplain Bryan Benjamin and Pastor Bruce Barlow officiating. A private family graveside service will be Thursday at Eberhart Lutheran Reform Cemetery, Columbia City.
