ROCHESTER – Eileen D. Boardman, 88, formerly of Rochester, died Dec. 7, 2011, in Plainfield Health Care Center.

She was born Feb. 17, 1923, in Benton County, to Merle and Irene Bartoo Carlile. On Dec. 16, 1945, in Remington, she married Charles C. Boardman, who died  Sept. 29, 2007.

Moving to Rochester from Urbana in 1964, she was a  homemaker and served as a secretary for the Indiana Soil Conservation Office, Fulton County, for more than 13 years, from which she retired. As a member of Grace United Methodist Church, she was active in the Women’s Society and the Grace Women’s Guild. She was an active member of Rochester Swingin Dudes for a number of years.

Surviving are four daughters: Diane Kay Boardman, Lebanon; Janet Sue (and spouse Donald) Gouldsmith, Clayton; Carol Jean (and spouse James) Mann, Martinsville; and Karen Ann Marosz, Holland, Mich.; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Clouse, Rensselaer. She was preceded in death by a grandson and two brothers.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester, with the Rev. Maurice Grindle officiating. Burial will be in Rochester IOOF Cemetery.

Calling is from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
