He was born Nov. 18, 1920, in Warsaw, to Fred F. and Jennie VanCuren Kinsey. On March 31, 1946, in Warsaw, he married Reba C. Snyder, who died Feb. 2, 1949. On June 30, 1951, in Napolean, Ohio, he married Evelyn Bowers, who died March 9, 1999.
A lifetime Warsaw resident, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy Sept. 23, 1941, in Fort Wayne, serving in World War II. He was honorably discharged Oct. 8, 1945. He worked at Hide Away Hills, retiring in 1985. He was a member of American Legion Post 49, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1126 and the Kosciusko Gun Club for years. He loved to fish, hunt and play cards, specifically euchre.
Surviving are a daughter, Linda (and spouse Dennis) Byers, South Bend; two sons, Jerry Kinsey, North Webster, and Duane (and spouse Nancy) Clements, Tampa, Fla.; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Kinsey, Warsaw; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Kinsey, who died June 14, 2008; a grandson, Brent Edward Kinsey, who died Feb. 11, 1980; five brothers: Chester, William, Robert, Eugene and Max Kinsey; three sisters, Irene Morphey, Virginia Bennett, and Myrtle Felkner.
A graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, with military honors by members of American Legion 49 and VFW 1126, with his sons-in-law, Dennis Byers, officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw.
