He was born Dec. 17, 1924, in Kosciusko County, to Seth Earl and Bertha Beatrice McMan Rowdabaugh. On May 18, 1974, he married Merry I. Sperry Penick, who died March 19, 2012.
He was a teacher for four years and a salesman for J.C. Penny Co.
Surviving are three stepsons, Benson K. “Ben” (and spouse Judy) Penick, Kenny Joe Penick and Deb Penick, all of Orland; three sisters: Ruth McKinney, Manlius, N.Y.; Joan Johnson, Walnut Creek, Calif.; and Baja Clark Portola, Calif.; and several step-grandchildren. He also was preceded by a brother.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Weicht Funeral Home, Angola, with Pastor Kim Repp officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Orland.
Calling is from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
