FORT WAYNE - E. Ruth Ryan, 72, of Fort Wayne, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Dec. 27, 2010.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Herb.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.

She was a huge Colts fan and loved shopping and chocolate, but most of all she loved her family. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. She retired from Fort Wayne Community Schools, where she worked with special needs children.

Surviving are five children: Teresa (and spouse Robert) Jonak, Pam (and spouse Richard) Thornton, Pat (and spouse Tina) Ryan, Mike (and spouse Cindy) Ryan and Dan (and spouse Savannah) Ryan; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Mary Cooper and Kate Gebhart. She was preceded in death by her mother, Kathleen Bickford.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at C.M. Sloan & Sons Funeral Home, 1327 N. Wells St., Fort Wayne.

Calling is from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
