NORTH MANCHESTER – E. DeWayne Snell, 92, of North Manchester, died at 7:55 p.m. April 13, 2013, in Timbercrest Healthcare Center, North Manchester.
He was born July 3, 1920, in   North Manchester, to Melvin R. and Trevah P. Farley Snell. On July 14, 1945, she married Doris B. Bowers, who survives.
He worked at Heckman Bindery, North Manchester, retiring in 1983, after 23 years as district circulation manager for Fort Wayne newspapers. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, serving in General Patton’s 3rd  Army 95th Infantry Division “The Iron Men Of Metz”. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and the Presidential Unit Citation from President Roosevelt. He was a member of Manchester Church of the Brethren and American Legion Post 286, North Manchester, and a former member of North Manchester Lions Club, North Manchester Jaycees and Elks Lodge, Wabash. He graduated from Laketon High School and attended Indiana Business College.  
Surviving are a daughter, Marsha (and spouse Michael) Flora, Fort Wayne; a brother, Robert L. (and spouse Sheila) Snell, Indianapolis; a sister, Joann (and spouse Russell) Hoover, North Manchester; and four granddaughters. He was preceded in death by a daughter and two sisters.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Manchester Church of the Brethren, North Manchester, with Pastors Kurt Borgmann and Karen Eberly officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
