Dwayne Royer, 89, of North Manchester, died at 5:57 p.m. June 15, 2009, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.

He was born Dec. 2, 1919, in Servia, to Jonas and Beulah Mote Royer. On May 23, 1940, he married Velma E. Heeter, who died Aug. 31, 2000.

He worked at Erie-Lackawanna Railroad for 42 years, retiring in 1979. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church, North Manchester. He graduated from Chester High School in 1937, where he participated in baseball and drama club.

Surviving are a daughter, Joyce (and spouse Don) Pottenger, Auburn Hills, Mich.; two sisters, Graceanna (and spouse Charles) Ramseier, North Manchester, and Charlene Hite, Wabash; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter and two brothers.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Timbercrest Chapel, North Manchester, with Pastor Andrew Gathany officiating.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, and one hour prior to the service Thursday at Timbercrest Chapel.
