DuBois Drive

This is an open letter to Mayor Ernie Wiggins, and the gentlemen on the Warsaw City Council.
Gentlemen,
I am in very reluctant to offer criticism of a fairly recent decision regarding DuBois Drive. I know that the best intentions were the reasons for the change to a one-way street. However, as good as those intentions were, you have created a monster.
I have yet talked to anyone who likes the new design. It seems like everybody is complaining about it. There's even a new FaceBook page complaining about it. I realize that the old intersection with Parker Street was awkward and clumsy, but it was still far better than what we have now. Winding around all the medical facilities to get to 30, then back to Parker is not a good set-up at all. That street was not meant for thruway traffic.
I suggest two alternatives to the one-way street arrangement we now have:
1) Go back to the way it was and reopen Meadowbrook Drive to Parker. The current situation, closing Meadowbrook with Parker Street, probably adds at least one-third more traffic to Harrison Street, an already over-loaded street.
2) Buy the ground around the gas station and build a new road that connects Dubois and Parker. You can still have your one-way streets, DuBois headed west and the new road headed east. You would still need to reopen Meadowbrook.
What we have now just isn't working. Not since the city cut down almost 80 mature trees that lined Center Street in the '70s has there been so much grumbling about a decision our city fathers have made.
I know many times you feel like you have a thank-less job. I appreciate the fine improvements that the city has made on many of our streets in the past few years. In my opinion, you all have done and excellent job. Warsaw is a beautiful city and because of your efforts it is another reason why we can be proud to call Warsaw home.
Nevertheless, would you please consider these suggestions, or another viable alternative to what we have now, and soon?
