Driver 'Fair' After 3-Semi Crash On U.S. 30
By Jen [email protected]
Miroslaw Kleczkowski, 44, Brooklyn, N.Y., was pinned in his semi and had to be extricated by emergency personnel. He suffered multiple hip, leg and ankle injuries and was airlifted to Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, where he was listed in fair condition this morning.
Around 3:11 p.m. Wednesday, Kleczkowski was driving a semi near the intersection of U.S. 30 and CR 150W, Warsaw, when he hit the rear of a another semi driven by Richard Thomas, 51, of Rockford, Ill. Kleczkowski's semi then skidded along the side of Thomas's truck before colliding with a semi driven by Ryan Fisher, 25, of Belmont, Ohio. Thomas and Fisher were not injured in the crash.
Traffic from U.S. 30 was redirected for a time as the crash closed the eastbound lanes. The westbound lanes were closed for about 20 minutes so the Samaritan Air Ambulance could land. The eastbound lanes of U.S. 30 were closed for approximately five hours while the crash scene was cleaned up.
Officers from the Warsaw Police Department arrived at the scene and immediately called the Kosciusko County crash investigation team, Multi-Township EMS and fire rescue crews for assistance at the scene.
The crash investigation team determined that Kleczkowski was eastbound on U.S. 30 approaching CR 150W when his truck slammed into the rear of Thomas's stopped semi tractor/trailer.
Kleczkowski's truck slid along the side of Thomas's truck before colliding with Fisher's truck, which also was stopped.
The crash remains under investigation. The Warsaw Police Department, Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, Indiana State Police, Warsaw/Wayne Township Fire, Atwood Fire, Leesburg Fire, Kosciusko County Emergency Management, KEMRAD, Multi-Township EMS and IDEM responded to the scene of the crash.[[In-content Ad]]
