Dr. Wymond B. Wilson, 92, formerly of Mentone, died at 6:25 p.m. June 2, 2013, in Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester, where he resided.
He was born March 17, 1921,   in Steuben County, to Harvey and Bertha Boyer Wilson. On June 27, 1953, at Pleasant Lake, Steuben County, he married Arleda “Leda” Hemry, who died June 29, 2012.
He was a general practitioner in Mentone from 1954 91. He also worked at Woodlawn Hospital from 1954-62; Murphy Medical Center from 1954-76; Kosciusko County Board of Health; Kosciusko County Medical Society; board of directors and on staff at Kosciusko Community Hospital; medical director at Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw; and the board of directors of Mentone Farmers State Bank.
He graduated from Pleasant Lake High School in 1939 and attended Giffin Junior College, where he played basketball. In 1942, he began his service to his country in the U.S. Air Force. He then received his bachelors degree from Indiana University in 1949 and his M.D. from Indiana University in 1953. He served the community of Mentone for 37 years. He was a member of Mentone United Methodist Church, where he served on the administrative board. He was a member of many Mentone organizations such as Masons Lodge, Lions Club, Flying Club, American Legion, Chamber of Commerce, Bell Aircraft Museum Committee, Warsaw Elks and the Tippecanoe Valley School Board.  He loved Indiana University basketball and football. He attended games for many years and was a member of the Varsity Club.  In addition he enjoyed spending time on the golf course.
Surviving is a brother, Wilbur Wilson, North Manchester. He was also preceded in death by an infant sister.
Services were at 3 p.m. Sunday at King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone, with Pastor Amber Karkosky-Litten officiating. Burial will be in Mentone Cemetery, with military graveside rites by members of  American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, both in Warsaw.
Calling is from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
