The Oktoberfest celebration which takes place in Germany is celebrating its 200th year and The Downtown plans to celebrate the 200th anniverary as well as part of the First Friday events.
There will be an outdoor tent where all ages can sample food specials like bratwurst, sausage and sauerkraut.
Because of the tent, Center Street from Lake to North Washington streets will be blocked from 8 a.m. Oct. 1 to 10 a.m. Oct. 3.
There will be a moonwalk and shoot 'em out games for kids.
There will be a candy station for children with things like carmel apples and apple cider.
The money from the sales at the candy station will go to Fellowship Missions in Warsaw.
There will also be live music Friday and Saturday night.
Decorated pumpkins will be sold and the proceeds will go to Tri Kappa to help fund scholarships in Kosciusko County.
There will also be raffles and giveaways for those who attend.
"It's really important for The Downtown to do something that allows us a chance to do something for families and children and that's not something we get to do often," said The Downtown's Kristi Boren.
For adults there will be beer specials for adults.
Oct. 1 things kick off at 3 p.m. and go to 10 p.m. Oct. 2 things get going at noon and go until 10 p.m.
Along with the Downtown, the event is sponsored by Allegra Printing, Nelson Beverage, World Class Beverage and National Wine and Spirits.
