Downtown Events To Kick Off Holiday Season

Several events are planned Saturday in downtown Warsaw to kick off the holiday season.

The annual Toys For Tots collection drive will be from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the National City Bank parking lot. Carolers and the Salvation Army Band will perform throughout the morning.

In conjunction with Toys For Tots, Warsaw Community Development Corp. will host several family activities.[[In-content Ad]]At 9 a.m., Saturday chefs from area restaurants, including Barbee Hotel, Fusion and Mad Anthony's, will compete in an ice-sculpting contest in the National City parking lot.

Prizes will be awarded, and the sculptures will be available for purchase with proceeds donated to Combined Community Services.

Breakfast with Santa will be served in the south end of National City Bank from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Santa will be available for visits and pictures until noon, and a special appearance by one of Santa's reindeer is planned.

While visiting with Santa, children also can do some shopping in Santa's secret buying room from 9 a.m. to noon. Children may purchase gifts for their favorite adults with prices ranging from 50 cents to $2. Gift wrapping will be available.

People can park in the municipal parking lot from 9 a.m. to noon and catch a free ride on the reindeer express train to Santa's village at National City Bank.
