She was born July 8, 1918, in Roann, to John Wood and Chloie Powell Wright.
On Nov. 29, 1943, in Roann, she married Merritt Lee Gaff, who died June 27, 2013.
She retired as admitting clerk for Wabash County Hospital in 1984 after 21 years. She was a member of Roann United Methodist Church, the Mayflower Society, and was very active in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. She loved crafting, especially rubber stamping, and was a member of the Wabash Rubber Stamping Club. She enjoyed gardening and camping.
She is survived by four children: Barbara (and spouse Steve) Williams, Plainfield; Michael (and spouse Diane) Gaff, Cross City, Fla.; Jerry Gaff, Waynesville, N.C.; Jan Ellyn (and spouse Randy) Engledow, Silver Lake; a son-in-law, Larry Smith, Cordova, Tenn.; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Dianne Smith; and a granddaughter.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Grandstaff-Hentgen Roann Chapel, Roann, with Pastor Wayne Balmer officiating. Burial will be in Roann Community Cemetery.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
