She was born Aug. 10, 1915, in Wabash County, to Silas and Edith Lahmer Kennedy. On Sept. 22, 1934, she married Preston A Gregory, who died July 27, 1985.
She graduated from South Whitley High School in 1933. She made her home in Columbia City for a year before moving east of North Manchester, later purchasing a farm south of South Whitley in 1945. Following retirement from farming in 1965, she and her husband built a home on Big Barbee Lake where she spent her summers until 1989. In 1974 she began wintering in Bradenton, Fla.
She was a member of the Home Extension Club since 1947, serving in Whitley and Kosciusko counties and local offices with her last membership with Happy Hoosier Club, South Whitley. In 1947 she became a lifetime deaconess with the Church of the Brethren denomination.
Surviving are a son, Danny D. (and spouse Roberta) Gregory, Warsaw; a daughter, Judith Vickers, Fort Wayne; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and two sisters, Thelma Upham, Portland Ore., and Pauline Miller, North Manchester. She was preceded in death by a grandson, four brothers and a sister.
Service were at 2 p.m. Monday at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley. Burial was in South Whitley Cemetery.
