Doris "Jean" Brown, 81, of 521 N. Colfax St., Warsaw, died at 12:45 p.m. Jan. 10, 2010, in her residence.

She was born Oct. 28, 1928, in Warsaw, to Fred and Mary Catherine Schooley Hoover.

She lived in Fort Wayne for 30 years then moved back to the Warsaw area in October 1993. She worked as an adult daily living skill coordinator at the Fort Wayne State Hospital and was a registered language aide, retiring Oct. 15, 1993. She was a member of West Eel River Church, Silver Lake.

Surviving are two sisters, Sue (and spouse Kenneth) Schaaf, Warsaw, and Sherri (and spouse John) Durham, Leesburg; three brothers, Robert and Norman Hoover, both of Washington, Ind., and Terry Hoover, Kokomo; five nieces: Marcia (and spouse Brent) Hollinger, Warsaw; Shannon (and spouse Jeff) Brown, Wabash; Heather Lederle, Fort Hood, Texas; Lisa Schele, Peru; and Teri Lynn McCord, Tennessee; and a nephew, Jeff (and spouse Vicki) Schaaf, Mosinee, Wis. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw, with Pastor Bruce Barlow officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

No calling is planned.
