Doris Irene Thomas, 84, of 214 N. Tamarack St., Warsaw, died at 10:50 a.m. Oct. 5, 2008, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.

She was born July 5, 1924, in Warsaw, to Joseph R. and Gusta Mae Harley Scott. On Oct. 11, 1942, she married Gerald Emmert Thomas, who survives.

A lifetime Warsaw resident, she worked at United Telephone Co. and Sears for 15 years before retiring. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Warsaw, since early childhood.

Also surviving are a daughter, Sandra K. Nellans, Warsaw; a son, Richard "Rick" (and spouse Penny) Thomas, Warsaw; four grandchildren: Stacy Jones, Warsaw; Scot Thomas, Pace, Fla.; Shawn Thomas, Avon, Ohio; and Tiffany Thomas, Indianapolis; and five great-grandchildren, Jordan Jones, and Connor, Dylan, Garrett and Carmen Thomas. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with the Rev. Andy Martin officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
