SYRACUSE - Dora Rowena Elliott, 89, of Syracuse, died at 4:20 a.m. May 30, 2008, in Kosciusko Community Hospital.

She was born Dec. 26, 1918, in Mill Shoals, Ill., to Roy James and Flora Summa Belangee. On June 14, 1947, she married Harold Vernon Elliott, who died in 1992.

She was a summer Syracuse resident beginning in 1964, and moved here permanently in 1977 coming from Saginaw, Mich., and Anderson. A 1937 graduate of Anderson High School, she was a homemaker. She was a member of North Webster United Methodist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Belinda (and spouse Jerry) Claybaugh, Syracuse, and Mary Alkire, Fort Wayne; a son, David (and spouse Sherry) Elliott, Syracuse; a stepson, Roger (and spouse Susie) Reed, Anderson; two grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Neva (and spouse William) Pleasants, Gahanna, Ohio. She was preceded in death by two sisters.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel, with the Rev. Gary Elston officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Anderson.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Harris Chapel, Syracuse, and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the cemetery.

Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Harris Chapel, Syracuse, is in charge of arrangements.
