AKRON – Donald P. Joswiak, 81, Yellow Creek Lake, Claypool, and formerly of Chicago, Ill., died at 2:25 p.m. Feb. 15, 2015, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
He was born Jan. 12, 1934, in Chicago, to Frank and Sophie Rufkowski Joswiak. He was married to Audrey Collins, who preceded him in death. He then married Naomi Sekafetz Carr, who survives in Claypool.
He worked at IBM as an electrical engineer, and retired after 35 years of service. He graduated from high school in Chicago, and attended several years of college.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Army. He attended the Beaver Dam United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Yellow Creek Conservation Club for 16 years. He was known as a joke teller and a big Green Bay Packers fan.
Also surviving are two sons, Donald (and spouse Donna) Joswiak, Hobart, and Matthew (and spouse Denise) Joswiak, Chicago; eight grandchildren; a stepson, Gary (and spouse Kelly) Carr, Steger, Ill.; and a step-grandson, Gary Carr Jr. He was also preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Julie Thomas; and a brother, John Joswiak.
Honoring his request, no service or visitation will be planned.
Arrangements are entrusted to Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron.
