BOURBON – Donald Keith Rettinger, 86, of 625 Oakhill Ave., Plymouth, and formerly of Bourbon,  died at 11:28 a.m. Dec. 5, 2011, in Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home.

He was born May 13, 1925, in Bourbon, to Joe Herman and Cecile Gottschalk Rettinger. On Dec. 31, 1946, he married Vonna Mae Summers, who survives.

A lifelong resident of the Bourbon area, he spent several winters in the Haines City, Fla., area. He graduated from Bourbon High School in 1943. He was a retired farmer who had farmed for many years with his brother and father. He served four terms on the Triton School Board; served on the district board of directors of Northern Indiana Church of the Brethren; was a past trustee of Timbercrest, North Manchester;  served on the board of directors of the Federal Land Bank; was a member of Farm Bureau, Future Farmers of America and 4-H.

Also surviving are his children: Mary Eloise (and spouse Byron) Smith and Hugh (and spouse Karin)  Rettinger, all of Bourbon; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Herman (and spouse Evelyn) Rettinger, Bourbon.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Pleasant Church of the Brethren with Pastors Guy Biddle and Doug Archer officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Bourbon.

Calling is from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, Bourbon, is in charge of arrangements.
