SYRACUSE - Donald H. Strauss, 75, of Cromwell, died at 6:15 a.m. July 19, 2009, in his residence.

He was born March 10, 1934, in Fort Wayne, to William H. and Loretta M. Keister Strauss. On Sept. 7, 1953, he married Betty Jean "BJ" Hutchings, who died Dec. 24, 2006.

A 50-year area resident, he owned D&B Storage, Cromwell; was affiliated with Wawasee Lakeside Chapel; and was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

Surviving are two sons, Keith Edward (and spouse Jan) Strauss and Gerald Thomas "Jerry" (and spouse Karmel) Strauss, all of Syracuse; two daughters, Gale Ann (and spouse Michael) Marquardt, Cromwell, and Donna Jean Gibson, Syracuse; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; and three siblings, Maxine Miller, Jean Boyle and Bill Strauss. He was preceded in death by four siblings.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Aug. 15 at Wawasee Lakeside Chapel, Syracuse, with Pastors Harlan Steffen and Brad Cox officiating. A private burial will be at a later date in Syracuse Cemetery.

No calling is planned.
