He was born Aug. 13, 1917, in Williamsburg, Pa., to Harry Eldon and Ada Grace Treece Rhodes. On Aug. 24, 1956, he married Greta Cobb, who survives.
Living in Kosciusko County since 2003, he was a member of American Legion, Great Neck, N.Y. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1941-57. He retired as a postal carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in New York after 14 years.
Also surviving are two sons, Donald (and spouse Cheryl) Rhodes, Pflugerville, Texas, and David Rhodes, Warsaw; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
A memorial service at the Veteran Circle with military honors will be at a later date. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, is in charge of arrangements.
