Donald David Roeber, 81, Winona Lake, went home to be with his Lord and Savior at 7:50 p.m. Sept. 12, 2013, at Grace Village Health Care, Winona Lake.
He was born May 21, 1932, in Elmhurst, Ill., to Edgar Valentine and Clara Amanda Pankow Roeber. On July 14, 1956, he married R. Louise Ferrell, who preceded him in death on March 15, 1992. On July 27, 1996, he married Marilyn Ibach Mitchell, who survives in Warsaw.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1950-1954 on the USS Bataan. He was the founder and owner of Elastomer Sales in Saukville, Wis., which operated from 1973-1992.
He was a resident of Kosciusko County for the past 20 years where he was a member of Pleasant View Bible Church of Warsaw. Prior to this he lived in Saukville, Wis., for 24 years where he was an active member at Open Door Bible Church.
He loved fishing, golfing and the fall colors of Northern Wisconsin. He was active throughout his life in church ministry. His family will remember him as a loving husband and father, and a man of integrity.
Also surviving are a son, Randy (and spouse Diane) Roeber, Vestal, N.Y.; two daughters, Sherie Beckett, Winona Lake, and Julie (and spouse Matthew) Rhea, Fishers; three stepsons: John (and spouse Kim) Mitchell, Troy, Mich.; the Rev. James (and spouse Brenda) Mitchell, Akron, Ohio; and Joel Mitchell, Detroit, Mich.; one stepdaughter, Ann (and spouse Jeff) Klein, Walled Lake, Mich.; nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Dolores Peterson, California. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and four sisters.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Sept. 21, 2013, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, and officiated by Pastor Michael Hontz. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Sept. 23, 2013, CST at Grafton Woodlawn Union Cemetery in Grafton, Wis., and officiated by Pastor Sid Litke.
Calling is from 10 to 11 a.m. Sept. 21 at the funeral home.
